Choose a display name
Set your display name with /chatter:nick set <nickname>. For example, /chatter:nick set OakBuilder saves OakBuilder as your nickname. Use /chatter:nick reset to return to your real name.
These commands use the chatter: prefix so they reach the right nickname system even when another plugin also provides /nick.
A nickname changes how your name is displayed. It does not change your Minecraft account, UUID or the name recorded when you joined an older arena match.
- Set your nickname
- /chatter:nick set <nickname>
- Reset your nickname
- /chatter:nick reset
- Look up an online player
- /chatter:nick who <real-username>
- See online nicknames
- /chatter:nick list
Add a little colour
Chat and nicknames support Minecraft's & colour codes for players with colour access. For example, &6 makes the following text gold, &a makes it green, and &r resets the formatting.
Try /chatter:nick set &6OakBuilder for a gold nickname, or type &aHello! in chat for a green greeting. Keep names and messages readable.
Customise your arrival and departure
Use /jmessage set <message> to set your join message, and /lmessage set <message> to set your leave message. Type the full message you want players to see, including your name if you want it shown.
For example, /jmessage set OakBuilder is back! creates a simple arrival message. These messages also accept & colour codes.
- Set join message
- /jmessage set <message>
- Set leave message
- /lmessage set <message>
- Restore the defaults
- /jmessage reset and /lmessage reset
- Read an online player's message
- /jmessage get <real-username> or /lmessage get <real-username>
Control mention sounds
Writing an online player's real username in chat can play a sound for them. Use the full username as a separate name, rather than part of a longer word; capitalisation does not matter.
Run /togglemention to turn your mention sounds off, then run it again to turn them back on. The command confirms the new setting and saves it for your next visit.
Ordinary mentions have a 30-second cooldown per recipient. Staff with mention override access can bypass the cooldown and your sound preference.
